Dear Family and Friends,

I just walked in from family devotion time with the orphan boys. Pastor Milton (the house father) had been gone today on a visit with his wife in Mbale and had yet to arrive. Not knowing this, I decided it would be a good chance to mention some personal prayer requests, sing some favorite songs, and then spend some time praising the Lord for what He has done for us here in Soroti. With that still in mind, I wanted to share with you some praises I have had recently:

  • We survived 20 orphans with the chicken pox at one time! (Calamine lotion was even found right here in town!!)
  • Our summer visitors had safety in travel and were able to touch many lives while they were here with us.
  • The Pittman family has returned safely. Please pray for them as they get re-adjusted to life in Uganda.
  • Following the death of a fellow church member of Independent Baptist Church, and a dear friend to many, orphan, Aguti Sharon Faith was saved.
  • Jennifer Long has arrived to help in the ministry until December and then she will return in January until May to help cover while I am in the States for a mini-deputation.
  • Missionary Dan Dwire helped me find tickets for when I go home for deputation for $500 cheaper than if I were to get them myself! I will be home December 10, 2008-May 18, 2009.
  • The Lord has provided a deputation vehicle.
  • I have been able to schedule a few meetings and mission conferences. (If you know of anyone who would be interested in receiving a packet of information, please let me know!)
  • Two young girls who have been faithfully coming to church in Serere have been saved—Teddy and Merab!
  • One of our church men in Soroti traveled to the prison in Serere and saw many come to know the Lord as Savior!
  • The orphans have worked hard in learning the 66 Books of the Bible—and now we are working on learning what is in each book.
  • I was able to drive to Awoja village and help distribute food and tracts to people going through a famine. This is the village of one of our teachers at Independent Baptist School.
  • The Lord has given rain and cooler temperatures—and safety as snakes are more in number these days!

I know this list could continue on and on. I pray these items listed are a testimony to you of the Lord’s goodness here in Uganda. I appreciate your faithful and fervent prayers on behalf of the Lord’s Work being done in this part of the world. You play a vital role in the day to day happenings of people growing in the Lord. It could not be done without you! Please pray for the orphans as the school term is finishing this week with exams starting August 11. The children will then return to their villages for a few days to see family before the next term begins.

For Him in Uganda,

Pamela Wieler
